Resveratrol and Menopause Symptoms

 

Resveratrol as nutritional supplement with a wide spectrum of health benefits is the matter of a new hype among health enthusiasts.   Recent researches show that it could be effective for the treatment of menopause symptoms.  Hitherto, for the treatment of menopause symptoms Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) has been in use.  Now the new research findings show that resveratrol could be an alternative to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). 

Resveratrol without Side Effects

In the conventional system of treatment of menopausal symptoms - Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) – severe side effects have been reported.  The side effects include breast cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Resveratrol is reported to be without side effects for the treatment of menopausal symptoms.  Resveratrol consumption has other benefits like protection against degenerative diseases, enhanced heart and kidney function, ant-aging, cancer cure, cardiac cure, liver health, longevity and the like.

Other Benefits of Resveratrol

A study reported in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, compares the potency of resveratrol with that of genistein, glystein and daidzein.  These are soy-derivatives which are used in the treatments for menopause symptoms.  The study further says that resveratrol is powerful in its proapoptotic (killing tumor cells) ability.  Unlike estrogens and progestin used in HRT, resveratrol has no side effects.   Hence it is believed that resveratrol will revolutionize the treatment of menopausal symptoms. 

The Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is the conventional treatment for menopausal symptoms.  It is an estrogen-based treatment and has many severe side effects.  Side effects like breast cancer, chances for stroke, blood clots, cardiac problems, etc. are reported.  Hence it a boon for many women who may have to suffer from the side effects of HRT.

The reported health benefits of resveratol are many.   A wide spectrum of beneficial aspects of resveratrol is reported in the international medical journals.  It is reported that it can contribute to enhanced libido, anti-aging, cardio-vascular benefits, weight loss, diabetic cure and even capable of extending lifespan.   The media has often reported the health benefits of this antioxidant.  The New York Times once reported: "Can you have your cake and eat it? Is there a free lunch after all, red wine included?  Researchers at the HarvardMedicalSchool and the National Institute of Aging report that a natural substance found in red wine, know as resveratrol, offsets the bad effects of a high-calorie diet, and significantly extends your lifespan."  The hype over this phytochemical is still on the increase.

Resveratrol – Know the Right Dosage to Avoid Risks

Resveratrol – The Risk of Cancer

Thant you Tourmaline for visiting and commenting. As resveratrolis recent development, it is better to minimise the use of supplements and red wine. Red grapes can be had in any quantity.
